If you find yourself in need of video editing services, you’re not alone. Video has already taken over social media, and it’s only becoming more valuable for businesses as ChatGPT supplants blogs. This means more people than ever are looking for someone to edit their videos.
Vidpros is one of many companies that claim to offer a solution. With their unique “fractional” service model, they offer unlimited video editing services for a simple monthly fee.
But is it really worth the cost? In this Vidpros review, I tried out the service to give you the inside scoop.
What is Vidpros?
Vidpros was founded by Michael Holmes, an American entrepreneur based in Tbilisi, Georgia. Their story begins in 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when video editing services were more in-demand than ever.
Since then, they’ve expanded their team to include over 80 members around the world and have become a leader in the video editing services space.
What does Vidpros offer?
Unlike many other subscription-based creative services, Vidpros offers “fractional” services. What this means is that, rather than simply getting assigned to an editor who’s typically working on multiple projects at a time, you get a set amount of hours spent on your project.
Depending on your plan, your editor will either work on your video in 2-hour or 8-hour shifts.
In addition to this, Vidpros offers:
- Basic thumbnails
- Stock video and music
- AI-generated captions
How much does Vidpros cost?
Vidpros offers two pricing options:
- Part-Time: For $1,000 per month, you get access to a dedicated video editor for 2 hours per business day.
- Full-Time: For $3,000 per month, you get access to a dedicated video editor for 8 hours per business day.
Editors’ working hours are 8am-5pm Philippine time (GMT+8), Tuesday through Saturday.
How do you sign up for Vidpros?
If you want to get a demo before signing up, Vidpros gives you three options:
- Booking a live call with a sales rep
- Sending an email to their support team
- Joining their weekly webinar, Wednesdays at 3:00
If you’re ready to sign up, you’ll find the sign-up process is surprisingly easy. Simply enter your email, choose a plan, and enter your payment information.
You can also purchase multiple plans at a time—up to 10 editors. Once you’ve picked your plan, you can verify your email and head straight to the client portal.
Vidpros review: Technology (design, ease of use, features) – 3/5 ⭐
You know the expression, “don’t judge a book by its cover”?
When I first landed in the Vidpros client portal, it seemed a bit bare-bones. With a simple grayscale design and limited features, it didn’t hold up compared to the flashy, colorful layout I saw in my beCreatives review (I tried out both services around the same time).
From the dashboard, you can view recent and ongoing projects. You can also:
- Review orders
- View time reports for each project
- View invoices
- Upgrade your subscription
- View and change your payment information
- Add additional account information
- Create a support ticket
- Cancel your subscription
- Earn rewards with their affiliate program
Vidpros uses a ticket system for both support and requests. Each video project has a unique alphanumeric code. It’s not the most intuitive system, and many of the tabs on the portal are just presenting the same information in different formats.
Unlike many other creative services, Vidpros doesn’t host videos or revisions directly in its web portal. Each project draft is shared in two formats: a Frame link and a Google Drive link. Frame is the service they use to allow you to leave specific, timestamped revisions.
However, there’s one question that’s most important when it comes to a service’s tech: How effective is it at getting you your videos?
While there’s a little more of a learning curve to Vidpros than some other services, and they aren’t exactly flush with bonus features, I never had any issues retrieving my work, providing feedback, or creating projects.
How do you create a project in Vidpros?
The video project form on Vidpros is relatively simple. In a single-page brief, it asks you to upload your instructions, script, audio/video assets, and make decisions about whether or not to include music, captions, thumbnails, and how much creative liberty your editor can take.
Once you get a handle on the ticket system, the process is thorough and straightforward.
Just remember: Vidpros is a video EDITING service, not a video creation service. Nowadays, many businesses streamline their video output with AI-powered production. While Vidpros allows you to use AI-generated assets, they won’t create them for you.
All told, Vidpros’ tech is somewhat lacking in features. But that’s not always a bad thing. While the project request and revision system could be improved somewhat, the simplicity of its delivery method means you quickly learn the ropes and are able to jump back in without any unnecessary add-ons.
Vidpros Review: Editors (efficiency, creativity, communication) - 5/5 ⭐
What Vidpros lacks in user experience, they make up for in raw talent. When creating my first project—an explainer video about the movie Barbie—I was greeted the following day with not one, but two samples in my inbox.
As a first-time customer, my account manager took the time to ensure the editor I was paired with was the best fit for me. Both of the 30-second snippets were impressive. They were tightly edited, engaging, and unique, but one was the clear standout, and that was the editor I was paired with.
Within a few days, I had a full draft in my inbox. Even having used plenty of subscription-based creative services, I was blown away by what they were able to accomplish. It was unique. It was stylish. They had turned a script I wrote and recorded in about 30 minutes into something downright impressive.
But, in the interest of a thorough review, I had to leave some revisions.
How to request revisions from Vidpros
The revisions I asked for were small: a different choice of music and highlighted captions for names and titles.
Some creative services I’ve tried (e.g. Penji) have built-in tools for more precise revisions. Vidpros doesn’t have that—they use a third-party service called Frame to leave pinpointed notes.
What they do have, however, is the ability to format text in their in-app chat, which can be a make-or-break thing for these services. With the use of bold, numbered lists, links, and embeds, you can leave much more detailed information. For personal use, I honestly find it more useful than point-and-click tools.
My editor returned my revised version within 24 hours. Unfortunately, it seemed like less attention was given to the revision than the initial version. Maybe it was just a communication issue, but my request for names and titles to be highlighted ended up with the whole text color being changed.
While that minor oversight might have been a bad omen, I can’t let it overshadow the excellent work my editor did in general. As I’ve said before, I know firsthand that this work isn’t easy, and they absolutely excelled at delivering something catchy, exciting, and unique.
Vidpros Review: Support (communication, helpfulness, responsiveness) - 5/5 ⭐
Like I said earlier, Vidpros offers a few ways to get in touch with support.
Before signing up, you can book a call, send an email, or tune into their regular weekly webinar. They also have an on-site chat function, but I had a little trouble getting it to work properly; sometimes it didn’t seem to show up at all.
Their interaction with customers once you sign up is on the minimal side. They’ll ask to set up a call to discuss your needs and email you when there’s a new project update, but they don’t overstay their welcome. For my money, I prefer this to services that bombard you with emails in the few days after you sign up.
Beyond that, my interactions with support were universally pretty helpful. While the editors largely work in the Philippines region (and I’m based in US Eastern), I often got surprisingly punctual responses to my questions.
How do you cancel your Vidpros subscription?
Vidpros has one of the most accessible cancellation processes I’ve seen to date. You’ll find the “cancel” button located handily in the main menu of the dashboard, and from there, you simply fill out a brief Typeform.
The form asks 4 simple questions:
- Why are you cancelling?
- Would you consider [one-time offer] instead?
- What could we do to improve Vidpros?
- Would you like to request a 14-day refund?
This is the only service I’ve ever reviewed that straight-up asks if you want your refund, rather than making you ask for it yourself. They didn’t even send an “Are you sure?” email—they processed the refund overnight and asked me if I’d get on a call to discuss how they can improve.
Some may call this bad business sense—there’s a reason most money-back guarantees aren’t so easy to access. But from my perspective as a customer, it just makes me respect them more. It almost says more about the service than the quality of their deliverables.
Vidpros Review: Service (deliverables, quality, value) - 5/5 ⭐
Where Vidpros’ unique pricing model connects you more directly to the labor you’re paying for, their pricing also makes them a little less “too-good-to-be-true” than their competitors.
For $3,000 a month, you get access to an editor for 8 hours a day. That’s equivalent to a salary of about $17 an hour. That’s less than you’d probably pay for a video editor, but the kind of change you may find yourself actually spending on a full-time worker. The part-time plan looks even more reasonable—at 2 hours a day, it comes out to around $24 an hour.
For those rates, you get access to some truly talented people, dedicated support, and a simple project management platform that helps get the job done. Unlike some creative services that try to offer everything, Vidpros offers one service from one individual—with some nice added perks—for one simple price.
It’s a good deal, but in a marketplace where others are offering “more” for less, its value will depend on the user. If you’re willing to pay a little extra for better service with fewer headaches, I highly recommend.
The scorecard
Technology: Vidpros has a bare-bones UI that might feel unwelcoming to new users. But while the website may not be as flashy as competitors, it gets the job done just fine, without the unnecessary added features that weigh other services down. 3/5 ⭐
Editors: My Vidpros editor went above and beyond, turning a simple video concept into something engaging and truly original. While I can’t speak to the lasting quality of the service, I have nothing but praise based on first impressions. 5/5 ⭐
Support: I have no complaints about my support experience with Vidpros. They displayed an interest in delivering the best possible experience, even during and after the cancellation process. Their responses were generally helpful and timely, and the frequency of communication was just right. 5/5 ⭐
Service: Vidpros has a slightly higher price tag than their competitors, but that extra cost does seem to come with added quality. Where other services squeeze the most features into the lowest price point, Vidpros offers a simple, no-nonsense video editing solution. 5/5 ⭐
Overall Vidpros review: 4.5/5 ⭐
